Sanlorenzo Presents SX112 installation at Fuori Salone

Leading yacht and superyacht builder Sanlorenzo will soon take part in Milan’s FuoriSalone for the third consecutive year. Sanlorenzo will present an inspiring installation “From shipyard to courtyard,” which will be on show at the exhibition-event INTERNI HUMAN SPACES, in the beautiful setting of the Università degli Studi di Milano (University of Milan).

This presence is perfectly in line with Sanlorenzo’s groundbreaking partnership with the worlds of art and design, a forward-thinking approach that was spearheaded by Massimo Perotti, chairman of Sanlorenzo. This approach was cemented by the appointment of Piero Lissoni as the company’s art director in 2018, a collaboration which has resulted in strong stylistic and artistic affinities being implemented in all Sanlorenzo’s designs.

On the occasion of FuoriSalone 2019, Lissoni will communicate the Sanlorenzo brand’s tradition and values in its “From shipyard to courtyard” installation. Evoking the wooden frameworks that shipwrights used to build, Piero Lissoni has reinterpreted the hull of an SX112 yacht through a process of abstraction. The interior of this imposing structure, which is on a 1:1 scale, in the middle of the courtyard will be walkable, making it possible for visitors to enter and tour the boat. This will communicate a connection between the past, present and future of Sanlorenzo, representing the craftsmanship of the artisans who have always shaped these sophisticated objects, while also announcing a new model that will be presented in 2020.

The flagship model SX112, chosen to lead the installation, will expand the crossover SX line, which was officially launched in 2017 with the SX88, followed in 2018 by the SX76. Both models feature the work of Piero Lissoni, who conceived unique open space yachts for the range. By completely reinterpreting space on board, thanks to the wheelhouse being exclusively located on the flybridge, the two designs boast a unique, continuous space from bow to stern with great internal liveability due to the open kitchen, next to the dining room, followed by a living area, with a seamless connection between the interiors and exterior spaces.

Once again Piero Lissoni’s installation shows the relationship between Sanlorenzo and the world of design, presenting the shipyard through new perspectives: the hull comes to symbolise the company by revealing its experience, artisanship and its innovative approach.

“As if the sea had run dry, the silhouette of a yacht has settled placidly inside a courtyard of the University of Milan, a creature whose only recognisable element is the structure defining its original purity”. Piero Lissoni, Sanlorenzo’s Art Director
